Janet Rose Bals
"This was unheard of... a free vacation in Florida. With Henry's blessing and her usual penchant for adventure, Florence set off in a 1936 black Buick with her friend, Helen, and four children. Roads were narrow, accommodations were scarce and there were long distances between gas stations. Florence encouraged word games and watched for each new "Burma Shave" sign to entertain the children. When a tire blew out, twelve year old Bobby skillfully met the challenge. When her companion, Helen, became anxious, Florence, the only driver, was pleasant and remained calm."

Using diary excerpts, family photos, old letters and memos, original birth, death and wedding certificates and information gathered from her children and other family members, ALWAYS is an intimate collection of stories about the life of Florence Rose.

Janet Rose Bals is the third child and the only daughter of Florence and Henry Rose. She was born in 1934 in Seaford, which was a small town on the south shore of Long Island. When she was thirteen, the family moved to the shores of the Indian River, near Jensen Beach, Florida. In 1969, she moved to North River, a hamlet in the Adirondack Mountains where she lived with her husband and two children for almost ten years. She returned to south Florida where she has lived most of her life.
She is a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and lives with her husband, Joe, along the Indian River Lagoon in St. Lucie Village.
